What is the difference between
dust and abrasive dust proof units?
Abrasive sealing is more difficult. Empire Magnetics dustproof motors are completely sealed with built-in O-rings at potential penetration points. The motors are also supplied with air fittings for pressurization (up to 15 p.s.i.) to lock out contamination. How well do abrasive dustproof motors work? Very well according to customers using them for carbide grinding, fiber optic manufacturing, powdered metal forming and charcoal filter making. How is the abrasive dustproof motor different? In addition to the features offered by the standard dustproof motors, the abrasive dustproof motors feature a shaft seal material that is more abrasive resistant and a shaft slinger that prevents abrasive dust from entering the bearing. |
